The well made white wines from Ribatejo, are smooth,
velvety, fruity and sometimes
too much graduated.
Over
there are also produced very dense and rather alcooholic red
wines.
Those
from Cartaxo, Rio Maior, Azambuja and Santarém, after a growth
of several years can reach good quality.
Besides
these, the Covento de Tomar, Caves D.Teodósio, Casa Agrícola
Herdeiros de
Dom Luis de Margaride, Quinta de Alorna, Quinta do Casal Branco
de D. Sofia Sobral Lobo de Vasconcelos, the Reserves of Adega
Cooperativa do Cartaxo, Quinta Vale dos Fornos and others,
are already taken as good quality wines.
